Gucci Queen Margaret Quilted Leather Backpack

Categories:Other Brands

IMAGE: GUCCI

‘Old meets new’ seems to be the buzzwords of choice over at Gucci now, with more and more new bags that are infused with the old. Take the Queen Margaret for example, which to me is the perfect combination of both (and also my personal favourite as far as the Pre-Fall 2017 collection is concerned).

With the giant bee that’s embellished with crystals and pearls inspired by an archive find from the 70s, along with the addition of Gucci’s most iconic bamboo handles (I still get shivers down my spine whenever I recall my trip to Florence where the craftsman showed me exactly how it was curved and varnished), this variation in the form of the backpack is the best of both worlds as far as form and function are concerned.

Besides using it as a backpack, you can also tote it via its top handle, which satisfies the functional bit. Measuring some 25 cm by 23 cm, it isn’t exactly a tiny bag, so fitting in most of your daily essentials won’t be an issue either. Lined with a suede-like fabric, the bag itself is made up of soft quilted leather, which also means it won’t be overly stiff.

Available in a full black version (shown above) that’s priced at SGD3970and one more in multiple colours (SGD4360), you can check them both out now at Gucci boutiques at ION Orchard, Marina Bay Sands and Paragon.

But if backpacks aren’t your thing, don’t fret. The Queen Margaret also comes in the form of a top handle stunner with a sling (shown above), as well as a smaller sling bag (known as the Broadway) that you can wear across the body.

FENDI RUNAWAY BAG

Fendi-runaway-bag

Here’s a new released handbag, it’s called Fendi Runaway Bag. The name is quite catchy and we think it’s inspired by the fashion term ‘Runway’. But anyway, this bag was first seen on the Fall Winter 2017 Runway.

The design
The Fendi Runaway Bag is a new design. The look is straightforward, modern and urban-like. It’s made with removable short leather straps for carrying by hand or at the crook of your arm. I think the reason why the strap is adjustable, is because you can change it to different colors.

The tote strap is designed with the brand new reversed ‘F’ signature logo in gold hardware and silver hardware. The reversed ‘F’ logo has been released not long ago, it was first-designed for the Kan I Bag.

The shape of this bag is neat and straight-lined. The calfskin leather feels smooth durable and luxurious. The front comes with a front zip and a pocket. This part does reminds be a little bit of the Celine Luggage Bag.

This is really a unique design, especially the mix of gold a silver hardware. The trapezoid shape is feminine and very attractive. It also comes with a long leather strap for shoulder carry, which can be removed or adjusted as well. The side is designed with large silver eye-lets.

The interior
The inside is secured with short leathers that close with push button. The interior is made with one large compartment, two flat pockets and one zipped pocket. It has all the space you need for daily use. The medium size is also great for work because it’s much bigger.

Now what do you think about this new Fendi bag? Is it going to match the Fend 2jours bag? Let us know what you think?

Chanel Spring 2017 Sports Collection

Categories:Other Brands

IMAGE:CHANEL

Much has been said recently about Chanel selling boomerangs that cost some SGD2020 each, with netizens hurling (get it, hurling) all sorts of boo-boo comments from cultural appropriation (yes, because apparently only Australian aboriginals can make and sell boomerangs) to how extremely overpriced it is (yes, it is).

But while it isn’t my job to defend Chanel in any way, I do feel the need to point out the following. For starters, this isn’t the only sports-related item that Chanel has launched in recent years; they’ve had everything from basketballs to surfboards if memory serves me correctly. This also isn’t the only sports-related item in their current SS17 line-up either; you’ll also find a tennis racket and a set of 4 white tennis balls (sold separately, of course) as well as a set of beach racquet paddles. There’s even a stand-up paddle board.

So besides offending the aboriginals, Chanel must have also upset the British, since they were the ones who made it mainstream in the 16th century. Or the Israelis because they started playing beach racquetball in the 1920s. Should we protest on their behalf as well then?

With regards to how expensive it is, guys, it’s Chanel! And when it comes to luxury brands like them, it’s always more a want than a need. Simply put, Chanel selling tennis balls is like Hermès selling porcelain plates is like Louis Vuitton selling pencils. They are expensive, you don’t need it, but you sure want it. If you can afford it, good. But if you can’t, then head on down to your nearest sports/homeware/stationery store because they will sell pretty much the same thing as a fraction of the price. And that’s that.

From left to right: Chanel wood and resin boomerang, SGD2020, Chanel tennis balls (set of 4 in a canvas zip case), SGD560, Chanel beach racquet paddles and balls, SGD5090 & Chanel tennis carbon racquet, SGD2330
